When I Cease to Exist
B. E. Fitzgerald
When I cease to exist
I want my ashes smeared
into the palms of
everyone I have ever loved
and a tombstone dropped
to the bottom of
Lake George in my memory.
It’ll read:
Never stop trying to breathe,
even when your lungs are
screaming that it is impossible.
Under all this water
you are still alive.
